The meaning of my name

My name is pronounced like the second part in the word be-lieve,
but with the 'e' at the end speak out loud, like the article 'a'.
Lieve is a short form from my full name, Godelieve.
It is a very old Flemish name.
The translation of Godelieve in English is roughly
'Loved by God'. The shortening Lieve means Darling or
Sweetheart. My husband uses the diminutive of Lieve.
He calls me Lieveke witch means Sweetie :)

A woman named Godelieve died in the year 1070,
and was made a Saint a few years later, because
of her goodness. Churches and monastery's are called
after her. And in the small village Gistel, where she
was killed, people honour her still.
When I was born in 1951, Godelieve still was a very popular
name. But now it's completely out of fashion. Although once
in awhile I hear the short form Lieve by a newborn child.
