Below you can take a peep
into a Gnome's house :-)

They exist

When I was a child
I did believe
The stories of gnomes
I took for true indeed
One day when the sun cast
Was gold and shallow
I looked for gnomes
Down by the grassy creek hallow
I did walk down
And I’d wait for the show
And really, fairies and gnomes
Did play by the creek stones!
So listen to me
And keep your beliefs
For to a gnome
Your innocence is a relief
Because it isn’t by magic
That they stay alive
But by being seen
With believer’s eyes!

The Little Girlgnome

Once I met a little Girlgnome
Down where the sunflowers blow
I asked her why she was so small
And why she didn't grow
She slightly frowned, and with her eyes
She looked me through and through
I'm just as big for me, she said
As you are big for you!

Little people

I'm not too tall but that's okay
There are better things to be anyway
People come in every shape and kind
And the way I am suits me just fine
Walking under trees
Some people get stuck
I don't even have to duck
When I'm playing hide and seek
I won't be found until next week
And the very best thing
About being small
If I ever trip
I don't have very far to fall

Gnomes

As the summer takes its leave
Every gnome will now retrieve
All the fruits he can obtain
For the cold times once again
Fall will come with stormy moods
In the vast and lonely woods
Gnomes prepare their winter goods:
Clothing, food, and snowproof boots!

Take a peep into a Gnome's house
but tiptoe, don't make a sound...

Magic

A gnome is a little fellow
That leads you through the trees
He takes you to his Wonderland
To anywhere you please
Follow him and trust his way
The magic has just begun
And when the journey's over
His heart and yours are one

Other pictures are from Rien Poortvliet, a wonderful Dutch artist.
Of course his work is much more beautiful in his books.
If only you could see them!

All poems are from unknown authors adapted by me.
